RESEARCH IMPETUS

‘Living in the Fourth Dimension of Architecture’ – Time was the very basic element which had great influence on me while studying history of architecture. The era and different architectural movements presented a variety of thoughts based on contextual need and ideas. It was great to know that as human behavior changes with time so does his shelter and work spaces. I always had a keen interest in civilization and the role culture play in developing the mindset of people over time. Architecture is an important part of this change. People have a deeper connection with built spaces and its experience which changes with time.

The question arises that can architecture better provide the user with rich sensations of time? How does user develop perception about the space and what role does time play in achieving that perception? Such questions provided the ground for research. In recent years, we have experienced that the only thing which is certain about architecture is change and the transformation of the space is bound to this idea. Time itself present different perceptions in mind of different users. This thesis is a study of human perceptions and their experiences based on temporal dimension – Time.
